CANITA is the Carolinas Northern Ireland Trade Association
and is a unique transatlantic trade development partnership. Building
on the many location and cultural links between the Carolinas
and Northern Ireland, CANITA is a programme which aims
to:-
- Encourage and develop business contacts and networks between
the Carolinas and Northern Ireland.
- Develop economic development partnerships between both
regions.
- Facilitate inward/outward trade missions for companies
in the Carolinas and Northern Ireland
- Assist companies to identify possible business partners
which would lead to joint ventures/licensing arrangement and
technology transfer.
- Promote trade and investment in the Carolinas and Northern
Ireland.
CANITA is managed/administered by Larne
Enterprise Development Company Ltd (Ledcom), Northern Ireland,
in partnership with York
County Economic Development Board, South Carolina.
It is supported by the International
Fund For Ireland, Invest
Northern Ireland, CORE
(Co.Antrim District Councils), Larne
Borough Council/Larne Development Forum, South
Carolina Department of Commerce and the EU Building Sustainable
Prosperity Programme.
Over the period 2003 to 2007, CANITA aims to:-
Assist three joint ventures/technology transfer arrangement
to be developed between companies in the Carolinas and Northern
Ireland.
Help companies in both regions to:-
- Generate an additional £1million ($1,787,064) of
business.
- Create twenty new jobs and safeguard twenty existing jobs.
- Create long-term sustainable strategic economic development/business
alliances between the Carolinas and Northern Ireland.
